PORTFOLIO NOTES

Build a showreel that tells your story

Select your strongest work and make your contribution easy to understand.

Choose a clear focus

Decide whether the reel presents animation, editing, compositing or another specialism. A focused selection makes it easier for a viewer to understand what you can do. Put a strong piece near the beginning.

Show your contribution

Label team projects with the part you completed. For a compositing shot, show the starting footage and finished result. For a 3D asset, include a useful breakdown of modelling, textures or lighting. Keep labels readable and brief.

Edit with purpose

Give each piece enough time to be understood and remove repeated or unfinished shots. Music should support the viewing experience. Use material you have permission to include, and avoid letting transitions distract from the work.

Check the final export

Watch the reel from beginning to end after export. Check text, audio, framing and the contact information you choose to share. Ask for specific feedback on clarity and selection, then revise your reel as your work develops.
